Technical School Sisak is a secondary vocational school that educates students in four-year education programs in the field of: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, ecology and chemical technology for professions like mechanical engineering technician, technician for electrical machines with applied computing, technician for electronics, IT technician, environmental technician, video games technician and mechatronics technician. Students acquire the right to take up the state exam and enroll in higher education institutions in the Republic of Croatia.
The school currently has 465 students and 65 employees, out of which 47 teachers (24 general education teachers, 6 mechanical engineers, 12 electronics engineers, 5 chemical technology teachers) 5 teaching associates, 2 expert associates, 4 employees in administration and 7 auxiliary technical staff.
In addition to regular education programs, Technical school Sisak is also running adult education programs, regular programs in the mentioned occupations and training programs in the field of CAD, CNC, renewable energy, and robotics.
The school is also registered as Student Service which acts as an intermediary in the employment of regular students from all schools in Sisak-Moslavina County during the holidays.
From the school year 2013/2014., Technical school Sisak has introduced three experimental curriculums in its program of work – computer mechanical engineering technician, technician for electronics and IT technician.
The school also introduced e-classroom books in all classes, projectors, computers, loudspeakers, canvas, and Internet, so all classrooms became multimedia classrooms.
Two centres have been set up at the school, Centre for New Technologies, and Renewable Energy Centre as technologically fully rounded education units. The Centre for New Technologies has practicums for CAD, robotics, automation, hydraulic and pneumatic and CNC technology. The Renewable Energy Centre has a photovoltaic control unit and photonics training equipment.
The main strategic goal of our school is the establishment of a quality and efficient system of education. By this, we primarily mean that the school will provide its students with high-quality vocational education based on the competencies needed in the labour market both in Croatia and in the European Union. To be able to provide such education to its students, Technical School Sisak must permanently and continuously increase the quality and efficiency of education.
Technical school Sisak is one of the founders of the Local Partnership for Employment, which aims to encourage and develop projects that will help students in employment, first in the Sisak-Moslavina County and then beyond.
Because all the work we have done and all the good results, Technical school Sisak was appointed the title of Regional Centre of Competence in the sector of electrical engineering and computer science on July 20, 2018. The appointment of the school as a Regional Centre of Competence enabled the school to use European Social Fund and the European Regional Development Fund in the total amount of 10,000,000.00 Euros for infrastructure, equipment and teacher training, as well as for the development of new curricula in the period 2020-2023. Technical school Sisak will develop robotics and automation curricula, video games and IT curricula.
Technical School Sisak relates to numerous partners from other EU countries. Together with them, we have implemented several projects funded by the ERASMUS + program, but also earlier Leonardo da Vinci. The main goal of these projects was professional development of teachers and professional practice of students in companies in the EU. Through these projects’ teachers acquired new competencies, were introduced to methods of developing new curricula, new teaching methods, and students acquired new competencies based on work by doing professional practice in companies in the EU.
Since students of Technical school Sisak do not have professional internships in companies in their regular curriculum, the opportunities that they have through the ERASMUS + program are an ideal tool for gaining work experience and work-based competencies that are often a condition for finding employment. In the next period, the school will use this program every year for teacher training in schools and companies in the EU, as well as for professional practice of students.
For our efforts and quality in implementing projects of mobility, Technical school Sisak was awarded Vet mobility charter in 2018. (2018-1-KA109-047655).
